Kansas City Current Takes NWSL Leadership and Golden Boot Glory in Historic 17-Game Unbeaten Streak

KC Current sets new NWSL record with 17-game undefeated run

Kansas City Current is currently leading the NWSL standings with Temwa Chawinga at the top of the Golden Boot race. In their latest match against Houston Dash, they secured a 2-0 victory, extending their unbeaten streak to 17 games and breaking the NWSL regular-season record for the longest unbeaten run. This was previously held by the 2014 Seattle Reign.

Chawinga played a crucial role in the win, scoring a brace within three minutes and bringing her season goal tally to 11, making her the top scorer in the NWSL. She also made history with a unique shot into the Missouri River. The Current has scored a total of 39 goals this season, leading the league in goal-scoring with Washington Spirit trailing behind with 29 goals.

The team’s next challenge will be against undefeated Orlando Pride on Saturday in a highly anticipated matchup that will test their current form and lead in the league.
