Kenvue Validates Near-Term Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Targets and Plans for Net Zero by 2050 in Support of Healthy Lives Mission

Kenvue excited to receive Science-Based Targets validation for its Healthy Lives Mission and climate action commitment

As a spinoff of Johnson & Johnson, Kenvue is the world’s largest pure-play consumer health company by revenue. Recently, the company announced that its near-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This leading corporate climate action organization has confirmed that Kenvue’s emission targets align with their end goals and the urgent actions required to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

In particular, Kenvue has committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2020 base year. Additionally, the company has pledged that 75% of its suppliers will have science-based targets by 2028, covering purchased goods and services as well as upstream transportation and distribution. Pamela Gill-Alabaster, the global head of environmental, social & governance and sustainability at Kenvue, highlighted the significance of this validation.

“We are proud that the SBTi has validated our climate targets so early in our new company’s journey,” she said. “This important milestone signals our intent to create a positive change and make meaningful progress in support of our Healthy Lives Mission. We recognize the increasingly detrimental impact climate change is having on people and ecosystems around the world.”

Furthermore, these validated near-term targets, combined with Kenvue’s commitment to set long-term net zero emissions targets informed by the SBTi Net Zero Standard, support the company’s Healthy Lives Mission. This mission aims to advance the well-being of both people and the planet, recognizing the inseparable link between human health and environmental health. The company’s goals and commitments are intended to drive impact and contribute to a healthier future for all.
