Dressed in a black coat, the 75-year-old king appeared smiling and waving as he arrived with his wife, Queen Camilla, at the religious building in Windsor Castle. After the service, the royal couple greeted the public and Camilla even received a bouquet of flowers. They then left in a royal Bentley.

The Easter mass was less crowded than usual due to Kate, Princess of Wales, also undergoing cancer treatment and being absent from public events. Her announcement of her diagnosis on March 22 had been a shock to many. For King Charles III, his forced absence from the public eye has been a challenge as he seeks to define his reign and the relevance of the monarchy in a modern nation.
