The Nets and Knicks have come to a deal that will see the Knicks acquire some added depth and talent as they continue to build their roster. As part of the Mikal Bridges deal, Shake Milton and Mamadi Diakite will be sent to Brooklyn, with Milton signing a three-year contract worth $9 million as part of a sign-and-trade agreement.
This move will help the Knicks stay below the first apron hard cap, giving them flexibility in their roster as they look towards the upcoming season. In addition to Milton and Diakite, the Nets are also sending Keita Bates-Diop to the Knicks to complete the trade.
Reports suggest that the Knicks had been working on multiple deals as they entered free agency in order to maneuver around salary cap restrictions. This trade with the Nets is just one piece of their overall strategy to remain competitive in the upcoming season.
