Lewis Brunt Signs with Wrexham: A 3-Year Deal for the Defender

Wrexham has officially signed Leicester City defender Lewis Brunt in a deal for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old has agreed to a three-year contract at the Stok Racecourse after spending the last season on loan at Mansfield Town. Brunt played in 40 games during the 2023-24 season, helping the Stags earn promotion from League Two alongside Wrexham.

Lewis Brunt expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “I’m over the moon to get this deal signed and I can’t wait to get started.” He acknowledged Wrexham’s rich history and ambitious goals, stating, “Everyone knows the story behind Wrexham. It’s a club with a great history and big ambitions for where it wants to go, so I am thrilled to join this journey.”

Brunt came through Aston Villa’s academy before joining Leicester in 2021. In his time with Leicester City, he made four appearances for them – two in the Premier League and two in the FA Cup. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised Brunt as “a very good young player,” noting his impressive performance at Mansfield last season and his potential for further development.

Mansfield boss Nigel Clough had previously disclosed that his club’s offer for Brunt was rejected by Leicester, with him still being their top summer transfer target. Brunt’s signing marks Wrexham’s second acquisition of the offseason, following the permanent addition of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo who was released by Arsenal.
