Love Heals Free Health Clinic Bridges Healthcare Gaps for Minority Groups on Southern University Campus”.

Baton Rouge hosts free health clinic

On Saturday, June 15, the Love Heals Free Health Clinic was held on Southern University Campus. The event offered free services to all attendees without identification, insurance or registration. It aimed to address the gaps in medical access for minority groups, including socioeconomic and racial disparities. The clinic provided wellness checks, dental work, optometry services and access to a pharmacy for necessary medications.

David Carter, dental director at the clinic, emphasized the importance of preventive care and education to help avoid more serious dental issues in the future. In addition to immediate medical services, the event also provided resources for patients to follow up with primary care doctors and information on how to apply for and use Medicare and Medicaid. Attendees were also connected with community resources for ongoing care and support by bringing in partners who offered services beyond the clinic’s scope.

The Love Heals Free Clinic’s commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and providing access to quality care highlights the importance of community-driven initiatives in improving overall health outcomes for all individuals. Future events are scheduled at other locations offering similar services and resources to support the health and wellness of the community.
