Lucky Wok: How a Chinese Restaurant Overcame Financial Challenges and Emerged Stronger Than Ever

The unfortunate bankruptcy of a popular Chinese restaurant

The Chinese restaurant “Lucky Wok” in Vienna is owned by SANYUAN Restaurantbetriebs GmbH, which recently underwent restructuring proceedings without self-administration. The company was founded in 2009 and employs 25 people. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the restaurant faced financial challenges due to a drop in sales and cost increases. However, restructuring measures have been implemented to address these issues.

The restaurant’s homepage explains how their buffet system works, allowing customers to take whatever they like without having to wait for specific dishes like in running sushi. Customers can visit the buffet as many times as they want. Alternatively, there is a menu available for ordering individual dishes if they prefer to stay at their table. The restaurant is known for its popular “All You Can Eat Sushi” in Vienna, offering fresh and tasty Japanese cuisine.

In terms of financial performance, SANYUAN Restaurantbetriebs GmbH reported a retained profit of EUR 1.529 million in 2022, with liabilities amounting to EUR 1.85 million. Despite the challenges faced, the company’s continued existence is financially secure due to restructuring measures that helped stabilize its operations. In addition, the company has made adjustments to its pricing and food offerings to better align with market conditions and creditors are offered a structured repayment plan to address outstanding debts. Overall, the company is working towards a sustainable future despite recent challenges it has faced.
