A 26-year-old woman gave birth to triplets, two girls and a boy, at week 36 of her pregnancy. One of the girls weighed 1.9 kg, while the other two weighed 2.6 kg. She had originally been admitted to the hospital due to lower abdominal pain, where doctors discovered she was carrying triplets in a rare high-risk pregnancy.
After the birth, one of the baby girls was transferred to the neonatal department for monitoring due to signs of jaundice. However, all four children and the mother are now in stable health and have been discharged from the hospital. The woman expressed surprise at the news of carrying triplets, as she had initially believed she was carrying twins until a thorough ultrasound at Hai Phong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital confirmed it was triplets.
Naturally conceived triplets are extremely rare, with a rate of 1/8,000 births recorded in world literature. In Vietnam, cases of naturally conceived triplets are even rarer. Women with multiple pregnancies should pay close attention to their diet and rest to ensure the health of both themselves and their babies. Regular check-ups and monitoring by doctors are essential to detect and address any potential complications that may arise during delivery or after birth.
