In a race to sign Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, former Serie A champions Napoli appear to have taken the lead, potentially beating out current champions Inter. Sky Italia has reported that Buongiorno has decided to continue negotiations with Napoli, despite Inter’s late interest. Following this decision, there have been new discussions between Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna and Riso, where Buongiorno’s agent informed the club of his client’s choice.
Moving forward, the parties involved will work towards reaching an agreement on the defender’s contract, with Inter now seemingly out of the running. During initial talks with Napoli, the club had proposed including a release clause worth 70 million in Buongiorno’s contract, which would become active in the third year of a potential five-year deal.
