Napoli in Command in Race to Sign Torino Defender: Inter’s Late Interest Appears Forgotten

In a race to sign Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, former Serie A champions Napoli appear to have taken the lead, potentially beating out current champions Inter. Initially, Napoli seemed to be ahead in negotiations with Torino and had an agreement in place regarding the transfer fee. However, Inter entered the picture late in the process, expressing interest in the player and seeking more information.

Agent Beppe Riso and Buongiorno were scheduled to meet to discuss the player’s wishes and preferences. Sky Italia has reported that Buongiorno has decided to continue negotiations with Napoli, despite Inter’s late interest. Following this decision, there have been new discussions between Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna and Riso, where Buongiorno’s agent informed the club of his client’s choice.

Moving forward, the parties involved will work towards reaching an agreement on the defender’s contract, with Inter now seemingly out of the running. During initial talks with Napoli, the club had proposed including a release clause worth 70 million in Buongiorno’s contract, which would become active in the third year of a potential five-year deal. This latest development suggests that Napoli is in a strong position to secure Buongiorno’s services.
