Nebraska Offers Scholarship to Former Omaha Central Player Abdul Bashir

Nebraska basketball extends offer to Wyoming guard Abdul Bashir for 2025 season.

Nebraska is currently offering scholarships for the 2025-2026 basketball season, and one of the recipients is Abdul Bashir, a guard from Casper (Wyo.) College. Bashir, who is a Nebraska native and played for Omaha Central, recently visited Lincoln on an unofficial visit. The 6-foot, 7-inch freshman had an impressive first season at Casper College, playing in 33 games and earning 32 starts. He averaged 19.4 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the field, 45.3% from three-point range, and 78.5% from the free-throw line.

Throughout the season, Bashir had several standout performances, scoring a career-high 33 points in three different games. In the team’s Region IX North Sub-Region Play-In Game, he once again led the team with 33 points. Despite their commendable efforts, Bashir and the Thunderbirds were unable to secure a win in the Region IX Tourney in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, falling to Western Nebraska Community College.
