New Head Coach Robbie Savage Joins Macclesfield FC alongside Former Liverpool Striker Emile Heskey: A Journey to Non-League Promotion

Savage appointed as head coach of Macclesfield

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has recently joined Macclesfield FC in a role that has not been specified, alongside new head coach Robbie Savage. Savage, who previously served as the director of football for the club, was offered a senior role elsewhere but chose to stay at Macclesfield instead.

The club has seen a lot of changes in coaching staff since its establishment in October 2020, with Savage being the seventh manager appointed so far. Peter Band has been brought in as his assistant coach. Despite narrowly missing out on promotion last season, losing in a play-off match to Marine, Macclesfield FC has achieved two promotions and a semi-final appearance in the FA Trophy in its first three and a half years of existence.

Savage, who has held various positions within the club including being a member of the board and a shareholder, is excited about taking over from Michael Clegg as head coach. He believes that the team has talent and potential and is determined to help them reach their full potential. Heskey, on the other hand, is looking forward to joining his new teammates and contributing his coaching experience to their success.

Macclesfield FC was formed after the demise of Macclesfield Town, which was dissolved by the High Court in 2020. The new club entered the North West Counties League and has since made great strides towards becoming one of the top clubs in non-league football. With Savage and Heskey joining forces as head coach and assistant coach respectively, Macclesfield FC is set for another exciting season ahead.
