New Sports Bar and Arcade in Edgartown: Seagrass Bar and Grill Set to Open in Former Sharky’s Cantina Space

Martha’s Vineyard News from The Vineyard Gazette

In the near future, Edgartown will welcome a new restaurant with a sports bar and arcade. The town’s select board recently approved Carlos Gomes Teles Filho’s liquor license application for his new establishment, Seagrass Bar and Grill, located in the former Sharky’s Cantina on Upper Main Street.

The restaurant will feature games in the area that previously housed a Brazilian bakery, while the bar and restaurant will occupy the former Sharky’s space. Mr. Teles plans to serve pub food like burgers, pizza, and seafood, but he did not provide an estimated opening date during the board meeting.

Work on the new restaurant has been ongoing for several months since Sharky’s Cantina closed in 2022 due to lease issues. Mr. Teles, who also owns a landscaping company, is the mastermind behind the Square Rigger in Edgartown and Nina’s Dine and Dash in Vineyard Haven.

During the meeting, the Edgartown select board expressed their support for the new establishment. Margaret Serpa and Arthur Smadbeck were present, while Michael Donroma was not in attendance. Ms. Serpa commented on how the restaurant has been revitalized and will continue to serve the community for years to come. Mr. Smadbeck wished Mr. Teles good luck with his new venture, to which the owner jokingly replied that he would need it as he embarks on this ambitious project.

This exciting news is sure to bring joy to locals who have been eagerly awaiting a new addition to Edgartown’s dining scene.
