Rumors quickly spread on social media due to the close proximity of the new location to the original site that caught fire. Fortunately, the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management confirmed that the new location did not sustain any damage from the fire. Deputy Fire Chief Keith Lohse mentioned that the fire occurred during the demolition process, even though there were no utilities connected to the building at the time. The original Buc-ee’s location opened in 2003 and marked the start of the brand’s growth to 49 locations across nine states. Texas boasts 35 Buc-ee’s locations in total.
