New York Liberty Secures Thrilling Victory Over Phoenix Mercury with Jones’ Late Points

Liberty ends losing streak with narrow 81-78 victory against Mercury

In the thrilling basketball game between the New York Liberty and the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night, the Liberty emerged victorious with a final score of 81-78. With just minutes left in the fourth quarter, New York made a crucial 9-0 run, which was helped by Jonquel Jones’ contribution of four points. Her layup and subsequent free throws secured the win for the Liberty. Meanwhile, Phoenix tried to close the gap led by Natasha Cloud’s impressive 21 points and Kahleah Copper’s solid 20. Despite several lead changes and momentum swings throughout the game, New York managed to maintain their advantage until the very end.

In contrast to Phoenix, who struggled with poor shooting after their previous game, New York started off strong with their excellent 3-point shooting skills. However, Phoenix fought back valiantly behind Diana Taurasi’s impressive performance in the final quarter. Brittney Griner is currently working her way back from a broken toe on her left foot and is looking forward to returning to play for Phoenix soon. On the other hand, New York will face Washington in their next game during a three-game homestand, while Phoenix will conclude their road trip against Minnesota on Friday.
