Pakistan’s cricket team is facing backlash after their early exit from the T20 World Cup. The 2009 champions failed to advance to the next round after losing to USA and India, with their only win coming against Canada. In response to USA’s qualification for the Super Eight stage, former captain Wasim Akram congratulated the team but also delivered a scathing message to Pakistan’s players, led by Babar Azam.
Akram urged the team to take a trip to Dubai and reassess their strategy. He has been critical of the team selection process, arguing that players are chosen based on personal relationships rather than merit. Meanwhile, former player Kamran Akmal weighed in on the debate, claiming that Shadab Khan’s selection over Usama Mir was due to his close relationship with captain Babar Azam. Akmal believes that selecting players based on friendships leads to poor results and injustice. The criticism of Pakistan’s team has been relentless following their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup.
