Paul Chryst Returns to Wisconsin: Texas Coach Spotted at Green Bay Packers OTAs Amid Speculation about Returning to Badgers Program

Paul Chryst, ex-Badgers coach, returns to Wisconsin

Paul Chryst, former Wisconsin Badgers head coach, was spotted attending Green Bay Packers OTAs on Tuesday. This marked his first public appearance in the state of Wisconsin related to football since being fired from the Badgers program in October 2023. The Packers’ optional offseason practice session is taking place from May 20 to June 6 before mandatory minicamp begins on June 11.

Chryst currently holds a position as ‘offensive analyst and special assistant to the head coach’ at Texas, where he joined the program in 2023 after leaving Wisconsin. During his first season at Texas, the team won the Big 12 and reached the College Football Playoff. Expectations are high for the upcoming 2024 season under head coach Steve Sarkisian, with star quarterback Quinn Ewers entering his second season as well.

Rumors had circulated that Chryst might be interested in returning to Iowa to take over as offensive coordinator for their vacant position. However, Chryst chose to remain at Texas and has not been publicly connected to the Badgers program since his departure over a year ago. He remains a native of Wisconsin with deep ties to the state and is excited about making his return to football in Wisconsin during this new era for the Packers organization.
