July may not start off as well for Michigan football recruiting as June, but there is still hope on the horizon. The Wolverines missed out on some top targets, including edge rusher Maxwell Roy who committed to rival Ohio State. However, one promising prospect that Michigan is in good standing with is three-star wide receiver Phillip Wright III from Destrehan, Louisiana.
Wright could become the second wide receiver from Louisiana to commit to Michigan and the third overall pledge from the state. He is expected to make his decision on July 13 and is considering Michigan, Georgia, and LSU. Wright is highly ranked by recruiting services and is known for his speed, having run a 10.62 100-meter dash in 2023.
Currently, Michigan has a wide receiver from Louisiana committed in Jacob Washington and is also in good standing with Andrew Marsh from Texas. If Wright commits to Michigan, it will add to the excitement for the maize and blue and continue their progress in recruiting. Keep an eye out for his decision on July 13.
