Portsmouth Secures Another Year with Defensive Standout Conor Shaughnessy

Shaughnessy agrees to new contract with Portsmouth

Conor Shaughnessy, a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has had a successful career in football. He has played for several clubs including Leeds, Rochdale, and Burton before joining Portsmouth. Now, Shaughnessy has signed a new three-year contract with the club that includes an option for an additional 12 months.

In his first season at Pompey, Shaughnessy made a significant impact after his move from Burton Albion. He started in 45 of the team’s 46 League One games and scored four goals, including a crucial winner against Barnsley in April that secured promotion for the team. His contributions did not go unnoticed as he was included in the League One Team of the Year.

Pompey manager John Mousinho praised Shaughnessy’s performances and highlighted his crucial goals throughout the season. With his contract extension, Portsmouth is looking forward to having him continue to be a key player for the club in the coming seasons.
