Recalled Mushroom Edibles Linked to Death in North Dakota: Health Officials Warn Residents

In North Dakota, health officials have issued a warning to residents regarding recalled mushroom edibles that may be connected to a death in the state. The Prophet Premium Blends Diamond Shruumz products were recalled on June 28, as stated in a release from North Dakota Health and Human Services. Residents are advised not to consume, sell, or serve these products, which include chocolate bars, cones, gummies, and related items that might still be available online or in stores selling hemp-derived, smoking, and vaping products.

The Health and Human Services department, along with the poison control center, have identified a death in North Dakota that could be linked to the Diamond Shruumz products. They are collaborating with the Food and Drug Administration and other state partners to investigate this incident. The recalled products contain muscimol, a chemical found in mushrooms of the Amanita genus, which could lead to symptoms experienced by individuals who became ill after consuming Diamond Shruumz products.
