Revolutionary Science and Technology Innovations Win Big in VnExpress’ 2024 Scientific Innovation Competition

Science projects targeting mountain residents

The 2024 Scientific Innovation competition organized by VnExpress saw two notable winners in its second season. Mr. Duong Quang Kieu won the Innovation Award for his wood-burning stove that generates hot water, providing an efficient solution for people in remote and mountainous areas. Meanwhile, Tran Thi Quynh from Muong Nhe High School in Dien Bien province won the award for using snake plant leaves to create silk fibers for making wigs.

The first season of the competition saw the Dream Makers group from Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Boarding School receive a consolation prize for their project “Website to support Mong ethnic people in studying for the motorbike driver’s license exam.” This initiative aimed to leverage technology to assist the Mong community in learning traffic laws. Despite the competition, the website continued to operate with support from a research institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The prize money for the competition was sponsored by the Hope Foundation, a social fund operated by VnExpress and FPT Joint Stock Company. By supporting initiatives from young people, the Foundation aims to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas and promote technological advancements in society. The competition provides a platform for individuals passionate about science and technology to showcase their solutions and products with real-life applications.
