Revolutionizing Montgomery Area Sports: Class Realignments for 2024-25 and 2025-26 Seasons

Changes in Montgomery area spring sports trends

In the upcoming school years 2024-25 and 2025-26, several Montgomery area teams will undergo significant realignment changes in spring sports. Here’s a closer look at the trending changes across different sports:

Tennis has seen some major moves, with Saint James being promoted to Class 4A-5A after having four individual girl state champions this season. Alabama Christian, previously in Class 4A-5A, will move down to Class 1A-3A. Tennis powerhouses Trinity and Montgomery Academy will remain in their current classification, with Montgomery Academy’s Gabby Barrera returning for her final season after finishing undefeated and Trinity’s James Treadwell coming back following a Class 6A individuals state championship.

Soccer has also experienced some major changes, with Saint James being promoted to Class 4A and Montgomery Academy moving to Class 7A. After winning their first ever Class 3A title, Saint James will now be in the same area as Trinity, Montgomery Catholic, and LAMP. Montgomery Academy’s move to Class 7A brings excitement as they have enjoyed success in Class 6A with multiple trips to the state tournament.

In Track and Field, Trinity and Montgomery Academy will remain in Class 3A, being the only two programs in the area with individual title winners at the state meet. Trinity baseball will stay in Class 4A, with assistant coach Chad Mansmann being promoted as the new head coach following the retirement of hall of fame coach Ken Whittle.
