Revolutionizing Object Detection and Tracking: A Neuromorphic Sensor Technology Challenge and Collaboration between Start-up EYE-TECH and Leonardo

We are seeking solvers for the 2024 Bio-Inspired Sensor Technology projects

In October 2023, the Bio-inspired sensor technology challenge was launched with a focus on developing solutions in neuromorphic sensors for Detection & Tracking applications. Neuromorphic sensors are designed to imitate the functionality of the human eye and can be used in a variety of applications, including event-based sensors that react to changes in light intensity, sensors that mimic the dynamics of the human eye, and sensors that use neuromorphic processing.

The winners of the challenge were awarded a 12-month contract for direct collaboration with Leonardo. Among the teams that participated in the challenge, EYE-TECH from Carrara stood out as a standout start-up led by Monica Vatteroni and Andrea Raggi. The team presented their project EYE2DRIVE – Building the digital EYE as part of their submission.

EYE2DRIVE is an innovative solution that utilizes neuromorphic sensors to detect and track objects in real time. The project combines advanced computer vision algorithms with cutting-edge sensor technology to create an accurate and efficient system for object tracking and detection. The team’s work has great potential for use in a wide range of industries, including transportation, logistics, retail, and more.

As part of their collaboration with Leonardo, EYE-TECH will have access to resources and expertise to further develop and refine their technology. This partnership is expected to lead to significant advancements in neuromorphic sensor technology for Detection & Tracking applications.
