Revved Up for the 2024 College World Series: ESPN Brings in New Cameras and Sound Technology to Boost Viewing Experience

New camera and sound technology unveiled by ESPN for 2024 College World Series broadcast

The 2024 College World Series is set to kick off on Friday with ESPN covering the entire event. This year, ESPN has made some upgrades to their broadcast, introducing new cameras and sound technology to enhance the viewing experience for fans watching at home.

ESPN has announced that they will be bringing five new camera angles to their coverage of the College World Series. In addition to the popular UmpCam, umpires at first and second base will now wear bodycam cameras to give viewers a closer look at close plays. One of the new cameras being introduced is an “Ultra Slo-Mo” camera, which will be used to show the interactions between runners and the ball, as well as track the action at home plate and along the foul lines.

The audio side of ESPN’s coverage has also been upgraded with around 100 microphones placed throughout the ballpark. The deployment of 75 microphones, including RF mics in the bases, buried mics at home plate and the pitcher’s mound, and warning track mics along the outfield wall, will ensure that fans do not miss any of the action in Omaha. The addition of commentator mics and umpire mics will further enhance the viewing experience.

Fans can look forward to experiencing all these new features during Friday’s matchup between North Carolina and Virginia, with
