Nine people, including two children, were injured in a mass shooting at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan on June 15. The gunman took his own life hours later. In response to the shooting, Oakland County officials have made plans to assist those who may be struggling in the aftermath. Vigils are being organized, and meal trains have been established for affected families. The Rochester Hills Department of Public Services building will now serve as a Family Assistance Center for those in need of support.
Starting Sunday, therapists will be available for anyone seeking assistance at the Family Assistance Center on E Auburn Road without an appointment. The Oakland County Health Network, which provided help in the aftermath of the Oxford High School shooting, is mobilizing resources in Rochester Hills. Those in need of support can visit the center during its hours of operation from Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., or they can contact a nurse at 800-848-5533 on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., if they are unable to visit the center.
The community is urged to reach out for help during this difficult time as they focus on mental health and well-being while police continue their investigation into the shooting at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan on June 15th that resulted in nine injuries and two fatalities and left many people traumatized by what happened.
