Rookie Phenom Wyatt Langford Makes History with Cycle on ESPN’s ‘Sunday Night Baseball’

Wyatt Langford, Rookie for the Rangers, Achieves Rare Feat of Hitting for the Cycle in First MLB Game of 2024 Season

Texas Rangers rookie Wyatt Langford made history on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” as he hit for the cycle in a 11-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. At just 22 years old, Langford started his cycle with a triple in the fourth inning, followed by a double in the fifth, a single in the sixth, and a home run in the eighth off Matt Krook.

This marked Langford’s first four-hit game in the major leagues, showcasing his impressive talent on a national stage. Despite missing time with a hamstring injury in May, Langford has been an impactful player in his 58 games this season, hitting four home runs, nine doubles, and four triples.

Langford is only the second rookie in Rangers’ history to hit for the cycle, following in the footsteps of Oddibe McDowell in 1985. The last Ranger to achieve this feat was Carlos Gomez in 2017. This performance was significant as Langford continued to make his mark on team history.

With a strong start to his career after being drafted in the first round last year, Langford’s success has been evident as he progresses through the ranks. His impressive cycle was a reminder of his potential and the impact he can have on the Rangers organization.
