Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers is set to be the cover athlete for Madden 25, announced by EA Sports. He is the first running back to grace the cover in over a decade, with Adrian Peterson appearing on legacy consoles and Barry Sanders on next-gen systems for the 25th anniversary of the game.
McCaffrey has achieved a career milestone by being on the cover of Madden NFL, which he called a “career achievement.” He attributed his success to his teammates, coaches, and 49er Faithful. During the 2023-24 season, McCaffrey led the league in various stats including scrimmage yards, rushing yards and total touchdowns. After being traded from Carolina Panthers to the 49ers in October 2022, he has been a key player in their successes.
EA Sports Senior Production Director Mike Mahar highlighted McCaffrey’s popularity in last year’s game where players scored over 450 million touchdowns with him. McCaffrey recently signed a two-year, $38 million contract extension with the 49ers making him the highest paid running back in the league. The team had a successful 2023-24 season where they went 12-5 and won NFC title and they are now gearing up for upcoming season opener against New York Jets on Sept. 9th.
Madden 25 will launch on August 16th and will be available on various platforms such as Xbox (X, S & One models), PlayStation (5,4 models), and PC (EA app Steam Epic Games platforms). Fans of Madden can enjoy playing with McCaffrey and his team as they strive for another Super Bowl victory this upcoming season.
