Sacramento Prepares to Host Oakland A’s as Temporary Home in 2025: Upgrades and Renovations Required for Major League Baseball

In 2025, the Oakland A’s will temporarily move to Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, as their lease at the Oakland Coliseum expires. The agreement includes an option for a fourth year if their proposed Las Vegas ballpark is not ready by 2028. Before the team can make Sutter Health Park their temporary home, several upgrades need to be made to meet MLB standards.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred recently shared that Sutter Health Park will require several improvements to ensure that it can host big league players for several years. These upgrades include constructing a separate building adjacent to the stadium for the home clubhouse, renovating the visiting clubhouse, installing new artificial turf, and upgrading camera capabilities for major-league quality broadcasts. Additionally, revenue-associated renovations such as club seating and video boards are being done in the stadium to enhance the fan experience.

While there is excitement about MLB games coming to Sacramento, there is still work to be done before the A’s can settle in and make the park their temporary home.
