In Fresno, California, EYE-Q is introducing a new vision correction option that goes beyond glasses, contacts, and LASIK. Dr. Frank Bishop is now offering the implantable collamer lens (EVO ICL) procedure to help reduce or eliminate nearsightedness and astigmatism for patients who may not qualify for traditional refractive surgery.
The EVO ICL procedure is minimally invasive and is suitable for individuals aged 21 to 45 who fall within a certain range of nearsightedness or astigmatism. During the surgery, a small opening is made in the cornea, and the lens, made of a blend of polymer and collagen, is inserted. This lens is safe and inert, meaning it does not cause any adverse reactions in the eye.
The entire procedure typically takes around 30 minutes, and patients usually experience an improvement in their vision immediately. The EVO ICL is FDA-approved and provides more people with the opportunity to achieve visual freedom. Additionally, the procedure is reversible, as the lens can be removed if necessary without causing any damage to the eye.
