Knife attack on SEK officer in Bavaria

An 84-year-old man in Schliersee, Bavaria, was reportedly seriously injured after being knocked over by a 49-year-old man. The suspect, who is a German national, then attacked a police officer with a knife. The officer from a special operations unit (SEK) was injured in the incident but was unharmed thanks to his protective gear, according to the police on Saturday.

The investigating judge issued a detention order for the suspect and he was taken to a psychiatric hospital as police investigate him on suspicion of bodily harm and attempted manslaughter. Initially, the police believed that the attack on the elderly pedestrian was an accident. However, after further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had intentionally knocked over the man causing serious head injuries.

The suspect then fled to his apartment where he threatened the police with a knife. Multiple officers and special forces were called in for the arrest. During the arrest, the suspect allegedly stabbed a SEK officer multiple times but the officer was not injured. The suspect sustained minor injuries during the arrest.

The motive behind the attacks on the 84-year-old man and the police officer remained unclear. The investigation is ongoing into this incident as authorities try to understand what led to these violent actions.
