The first report in a series of biennial progress reports has been presented, focusing on the implementation of Global health sector strategies on HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections for the period of 2022-2030. This report aims to highlight the areas of progress and gaps in preparation for the mid-term review of the strategies in 2026.
The key messages from the report include that new infections and deaths related to these diseases are not declining at a fast enough rate. However, there have been gains made in expanding service access across all three disease areas. Despite this progress, many indicators still remain off-track to achieve the global targets set for 2025 and 2030. It is crucial for countries to focus on sustainability planning across the three disease areas in order to continue making progress in the fight against these health issues.
