Southwest Small Business Development Center Receives Prestigious National Award for Exemplary Work in Supporting Small Businesses

Southwest Minnesota SBDC honored for exceptional work

In 2024, the Southwest Small Business Development Center at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall was recognized with the Minnesota Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Center Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration. This award acknowledges centers that excel in supporting and promoting small businesses in their respective counties. The center provides no-cost business advising services to small businesses in 18 counties in southwest Minnesota, including consulting, training, and research for businesses at every stage of development, from start-up to growth to periods of transition.

They operate through field offices across the country and work in partnership with public and private organizations to provide various resources and programs to help small businesses thrive. Minnesota’s Small Business Administration District Director, Brian McDonald, praised the work of the Southwest Small Business Development Center for their commitment to helping small businesses in the region succeed.
