A Massachusetts sports memorabilia collector, Glenn Gagnon, is distraught after discovering that his prized New England Patriots items have been ruined due to what he describes as Tom Brady’s careless autographs. Gagnon had shelled out thousands of dollars to have the items signed at a Miami conference, but now some of them cannot be authenticated because the signatures are unreadable.
One of the items that Gagnon showcased was a pair of TB Twelve shoes from a 2018 game. He had spent $7,200 on the shoes, only to have an authenticator reject them. Gagnon said he had spent over $14,000 in total to get the items signed, but now no one wants them and he can’t get his money back.
This situation has left Gagnon feeling defeated and disheartened. He had invested a great deal of time and effort into acquiring these collectible items, and the fact that the autographs are now deemed illegible has greatly diminished their value. It’s a sobering reminder of the risks associated with collecting sports memorabilia and the importance of verifying signatures are authentic and legible before investing large sums of money in them.
