St. Louis Cardinal Pitcher Sonny Gray Makes History with Win Against Oakland Athletics in Last Game at Home

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Sonny Gray made history on Monday as he earned his 100th career win against his former team, the Oakland Athletics. Gray pitched six scoreless innings and struck out six in a road start, securing his second win in as many games as the Cardinals won 3-1.

Gray, who was the Athletics’ first-round draft pick in 2011, made his MLB debut with the team in 2013. This win against his former team holds special significance as it will be his last start at the Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum. The Athletics are planning to relocate to Sacramento next season and then move to Las Vegas in 2028.

Describing the start as emotional, Gray reflected on his time with the Athletics and the many memories he has made at the Coliseum. Winning 44 games with Oakland, he also earned his first MLB win at the stadium nearly a decade ago.

Starting his Cardinals career strong, Gray has had two scoreless outings since coming off the injured list due to a hamstring strain. In Monday’s game, key hits from Nolan Arenado, Willson Contreras, and Jordan Walker contributed to the 3-1 victory.

The three-game series at the Bay continues through Wednesday, with fans eagerly anticipating more strong performances from Gray and the rest of the Cardinals team. For the latest news, weather, sports, and streaming video
