Steelers Sign RB Jonathan Ward to Strengthen Running Game for 2023 Season

Pittsburgh Steelers Add Running Back Jonathan Ward to Roster

After trying out for the team at their rookie minicamp, the Steelers have signed running back Jonathan Ward to their 90-man roster. The one-year contract has been announced, but no other terms have been disclosed as of yet. Ward played in seven games for the Titans last season and rushed three times for 11 yards while mostly contributing on special teams. He spent his first two NFL seasons with the Cardinals before splitting the 2022 season between Tennessee and Arizona.

With the addition of Ward, the Steelers are looking to strengthen their running game for the upcoming season. The top two returning backs are Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, and Cordarrelle Patterson was also signed as a free agent. The competition in the backfield is expected to be fierce as the Steelers look to build a solid running game for the season ahead. It will be interesting to see how Ward will fit in with the team and what contributions he will make on the field alongside Harris, Warren, and Patterson.
