Subsea 7 Awarded Contract to Develop Turkey’s First Floating Production Unit for Sakarya Gas Field

Contract Awarded to Subsea Integration Alliance for Offshore Project in Turkey

Subsea 7 S.A., a leading global subsea solutions provider, has recently been awarded a substantial contract by Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center AS (TP-OTC) for the development of the Sakarya field in the Black Sea, off the coast of Turkey. This award will be reflected in the company’s backlog for the second quarter of 2024. Initially, a contract was issued in May 2023 to a consortium that included SLB, Subsea Integration Alliance, and Saipem for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of the second phase (2a) of the Sakarya gas field. With this new award, the scope of work has been expanded to include the installation of Turkey’s first floating production unit as part of the Phase 2a development.

Subsea 7’s responsibilities will involve the installation and integration of risers, umbilicals, hook-ups, and mooring systems with the floating production unit. Project management and engineering will be overseen from the Subsea 7 office in Istanbul, Turkey. Olivier Blaringhem, CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance expressed pride in receiving this contract extension and emphasized that collaboration with TP-OTC and other partners is essential to maximize the potential of Sakarya gas field and support Turkey’s energy security goals.
