Teens Arrested After Police Pursuit: Stolen Truck Crash Leads to Apprehension

Two individuals apprehended following failed break-in at East Rochester establishment with stolen vehicle

Two individuals were arrested by East Rochester Police after attempting to break into a business and fleeing in a stolen truck. The suspects, aged 18 and 21 and from the Syracuse area, were apprehended following a police chase that culminated in a crash.

The stolen truck had been reported missing from Syracuse earlier, and officers responded to a call at Grassroots Wellness, a cannabis education space on West Commercial Street. Surveillance video helped police identify the truck used in the attempted break-in, and an hour later, officers located a truck matching the description.

When officers attempted to stop the truck, the suspects evaded capture and crashed when trying to exit I-490 at Route 96. Monroe County sheriff’s deputies and New York State troopers assisted in apprehending the suspects following the chase. Despite vandalism that damaged a broken glass window and door at Grassroots Wellness, the suspects were unable to gain entry to the premises.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
