Tesla Goes All Out to Boost Chinese Sales with Promotions and Incentives

Tesla giving Chinese customers a chance to win a complimentary tour of their US factory

Tesla is aggressively targeting its Chinese customers with various promotions and incentives to boost sales. One of these offerings includes a factory tour where customers who take delivery of their Teslas between May 25 and June 30 will have a chance to win a trip to the Fremont facility in California. The company will cover the winners’ air tickets, transportation costs, and insurance for the trip. Winners may also receive 10,000 kilometers of free mileage on Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Another opportunity for Chinese customers to win a free trip is by taking a test drive at any Tesla store in China before June 30. The winners for both promotions will be chosen via a lucky draw, although the exact number of winners was not specified. These marketing tactics come at a time when Tesla is facing slowing sales and increased competition in the Chinese market from other electric vehicle manufacturers like BYD. In response, Tesla recently reduced the prices of its Model 3, S, X, and Y cars by 14,000 yuan in China following price cuts in the US and Germany. CEO Elon Musk stated that Tesla’s prices must frequently adjust to match production with demand in the market.
