On Wednesday night, the Texas Rangers faced off against the Seattle Mariners in a game that saw shortstop Corey Seager sustain an injury. In the seventh inning, Seager was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game due to a left shin contusion. Despite being hit, Seager remained in the game until the end of the inning.
After the game, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy spoke about Seager’s injury, stating that his left shin had swollen up significantly and quickly. Bochy mentioned that Seager’s status for the next day’s game would depend on how he felt in the morning. It is unclear at this time whether Seager will be able to play in the next game.
Seager’s injury comes after he missed most of spring training due to sports hernia surgery he underwent on January 30. The 2023 World Series MVP will be closely monitored by the Rangers’ medical staff to determine the extent of his injury and when he will be able to return to the field.
