In the aftermath of Marc Marquez’s 16-second post-race time penalty for low tyre pressure at the Dutch Grand Prix, the Gresini rider was demoted from 4th to 10th place. This penalty had a significant impact on the updated 2024 MotoGP World Championship standings.
At the top of the standings, Jorge Martin from Pramac Ducati retained his lead with 200 points. He was followed closely by Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati Lenovo, who held the second position with 190 points, trailing behind by just 10 points. Despite the penalty, Marquez was able to maintain his third spot with 142 points, although he now sat an astonishing 58 points adrift of the leader.
