Merger Deal Between Six Flags and Cedar Fair Almost Finalized

Cedar Fair and Six Flags, two of North America’s largest theme park operators, are set to merge in a deal that will create one of the largest theme park businesses in the region. The merger, expected to be finalized on Monday, will form the new company, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.

The combined value of the new company is estimated to be around $8 billion, allowing for investments in new rides, attractions, food and beverage options, and consumer technologies to enhance the overall guest experience. With this investment comes a commitment to improving and innovating on the guest experience at their parks across North America.

Six Flags has locations in 11 states, including parks in Montreal and Mexico City. Cedar Fair has parks in nine states as well as a location in Toronto’s Niagara Falls. Additionally, Cedar Fair offers accommodation options ranging from RV sites to hotels throughout various locations around the U.S.

The new company aims to provide unparalleled family-focused entertainment that is filled with fun, thrills and lifetime memories for millions of guests across North America. Richard Zimmerman, currently President and CEO of Cedar Fair will lead the merged company with Selim Bassoul transitioning from his role as President and CEO of Six Flags to executive chairman for the board of directors. This move is anticipated to bring continuous improvement and innovation to the guest experience at their parks across North America.
