TikTok’s New Lite Version Launches in Spain with Financial Incentives to Win Over Older Users

TikTok is currently testing a new version of its app in Spain called TikTok Lite, which offers financial incentives to users for watching videos. The company aims to increase its popularity among older users by introducing this new version, also available in France, Japan, and Korea.

The Coin App, internally referred to as the Lite version, provides points that can be exchanged for tips for favorite creators or gift certificates from services like Amazon or Paypal. TikTok Lite is designed to be more accessible for users in markets with limited internet connectivity and is not available to users under 18 years of age.

Despite its popularity in the United States, TikTok has struggled to maintain top rankings in download charts in European countries like Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. By launching TikTok Lite with financial incentives for users, the company hopes to attract a wider audience and grow its user base among older demographics. The spokesperson for TikTok in Spain has not specified when the incentives will be activated for users.
