Tony Billetter and Pete Distad Reunite in Venu Sports to Revolutionize the Streaming Sports Industry

Tony Billetter appointed as Venu Sports Senior Vice President of Strategy and Planning

Tony Billetter has joined Venu Sports, a new streaming-sports bundle that aims to combine ESPN+ with linear TV networks like ABC, ESPN, Fox, TNT, and TBS. Billetter reunites with Pete Distad, CEO of Venu, who previously oversaw Apple TV+ business and worked at the tech giant for a decade.

Billetter worked at Apple from December 2017 until recently when he joined Venu. He previously worked at Disney for over 10 years in various roles, including director of strategic planning for Walt Disney Studios. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Francisco State University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Another important addition to the team is Jessica Casano-Antonellis, who was previously SVP and head of communications at SiriusXM and head of PR for Disney’s streaming group. She brings her expertise in media relations and communications to help promote Venu Sports and its services.

Venu Sports is set to launch in fall 2024 and will offer its service directly to consumers via a new app. The pricing and specific launch date are yet to be announced and depend on regulatory approval and final agreements between the parties involved. If all goes well, Venu will offer its service as a bundle with Disney+, Hulu or Max. The joint venture is operated by Rookie Enterprises LLC, a subsidiary of Fox Corp.

Billetter’s role at Venu Sports will be similar to his previous position as head of worldwide business strategy and planning for video and sports at Apple. His experience in video strategy will be instrumental in helping Venu Sports establish itself as a leading player in the streaming sports industry.
