Triple Threat: Yamileth Mercado, Juan Francisco Estrada, and Sunny Edwards Battle for WBC Belts in Arizona

Ramla Ali aims to become the first British boxing world champion as Sunny Edwards looks to make his way back to the top

Mexican super-flyweight champion Yamileth Mercado will face British contender Ramla Ali for the WBC world title on Saturday night in Phoenix, Arizona. Ali, who is a former refugee from war-torn Somalia and made her professional debut in 2020, has won nine bouts and suffered one loss. She aims to prove her worth as a fighter and follow in the footsteps of her idols Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard by winning the prestigious green and gold WBC belt.

At the same event, Juan Francisco Estrada will defend his WBC super-flyweight title against Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez. Estrada is looking to continue his successful career as a champion and maintain his position as one of the top fighters in the division. Rodriguez, on the other hand, is looking to make a name for himself in the ring and establish himself as a serious threat to Estrada’s throne.

Sunny Edwards, who lost his flyweight world title to Rodriguez in December, will also face Mexican Adrian Curiel in the main event undercard. Edwards is determined to bounce back from his first loss in 21 fights and potentially set up a future matchup with Olympic gold medallist Galal Yafai. Despite facing tough opponents at every turn, Edwards remains focused on getting back to winning ways on Saturday night before considering his next steps.
