Unbreakable bonds: Israel commemorates 76 years of unity through new Independence Day coins.

The Bank of Israel commemorates Black Saturday with special coins for Independence Day on October 7

The State Bank of Israel has announced the release of commemorative coins to mark the 76th anniversary of the declaration of Independence of the State of Israel. These coins, bearing the slogan “Israel Beyahad” (“Israel Together”), symbolize the unity and cohesion of Israelis that arose after Black Saturday on October 7. The Bank of Israel has been issuing Independence Day commemorative coins annually since 1958, with each design reflecting significant events in Israel’s history.

The concept for these coins was created by a team of artists who were inspired by the unprecedented terrorist attack and the War of Iron Swords that followed it. This tragedy led not only to tragedy and catastrophe in the lives of Israelis, but also to national unity, support, and mutual assistance. The reverse side of these coins depicts hands reaching out to each other against a pastoral picture of a kibbutz house and a tractor, while the top features a large number 76.

On the obverse side, you will find a circle containing inscriptions in Hebrew and English that read “Independence Day 2024.” This is complemented by six hands holding one another in Arabic, English, and Hebrew. Commemorative coins are available for purchase from the State Coinage Company of Israel in denominations ranging from 10 shekels (jewelry gold) to 1 shekel (plain silver).
