UNESCO Partners with Cambodia for 2024 Science, Technology and Innovation Day

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) organized the “Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Go STI” event in Cambodia, with UNESCO participating actively. The event took place at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Center from March 24-26, 2024. The theme of the event emphasized the potential of STI to tackle global challenges such as poverty, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability.

The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, graced the occasion along with H.E. Hem Vanndy, the Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation. The event attracted over 31,000 attendees from various sectors such as Education, Natural Sciences and Communication and Information.

Cambodia’s commitment to STI was evident through initiatives like the national STI Roadmap 2030 and increased investments outlined in the Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1. UNESCO has been actively involved in promoting STI in Cambodia across various sectors including Education, Natural Sciences as well as Communication and Information. UNESCO’s commitment to promoting science technology and innovation in Cambodia remains strong and they are always enthusiastic about participating in events that showcase its impact on the country.

UNESCO’s participation in this event highlights their dedication to promoting STI in Cambodia across different sectors. Their collaborations with MISTI have enabled them to host events that highlight the importance of STI in driving socio-economic development. As a journalist covering this topic I would say that it is clear that UNESCO will continue to play a critical role in promoting science technology and innovation in Cambodia for years to come.
