How Manchester City Reached the FA Cup Final

Manchester City will face their biggest rival, Manchester United, in the FA Cup final for a second consecutive season on Saturday. Their journey back to Wembley began with a 5-0 victory over Huddersfield in the third round, with Phil Foden scoring twice and Julian Alvarez, Jeremy Doku, and a Ben Jackson own goal completing the scoring. Kevin De Bruyne set up a goal on his return from injury.

In the fourth round, Nathan Ake scored an 88th-minute winner as City defeated Tottenham 1-0. This marked their first win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The fifth round saw Erling Haaland score five goals in a 6-2 victory over Luton, with De Bruyne contributing four assists. Jordan Clark scored twice for Luton, but City’s dominance prevailed.

The quarter-finals saw Bernardo Silva score a brace in a 2-0 win over Newcastle, with both goals coming off deflections. City controlled the game with 72 per cent possession. In the semi-finals, Silva redeemed himself from missing a penalty in the Champions League by scoring the late winner against Chelsea. Despite Chelsea’s missed chances, Silva capitalized to secure City’s spot in the final.

This marks City’s second consecutive appearance in the FA Cup final against their arch-rival Manchester United. The two teams have met many times before and this is going to be another exciting match between them.

City has been playing well so far in this tournament and they have managed to overcome some tough opponents like Tottenham and Luton to reach this stage of the competition.

Manchester United has also been playing well so far and they will be determined to win this game and add another trophy to their collection.
