New School of Public Health building hosts grand opening

On April 6, 2024, the School of Public Health celebrated its new home in the renovated Edna S. Brigham Building with a ribbon cutting ceremony and joyous remarks from University leadership. President Sandoval spoke warmly about the school’s impact on the community, highlighting its ability to shape policy, implement systemic change, develop and evaluate health programs, provide accessible wide-scale services, and conduct innovative research.

Dean Akpinar-Elci reflected on the journey that led to the opening of the new building during her address. She expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort that brought this shared vision to life and emphasized that it was not just about bricks and walls but about the people who worked tirelessly to make this new space a reality. She thanked all those who went above and beyond to create a place where passion meets purpose and shared that these individuals embody the school’s dream.
