Vikings Strengthen Defense with Acquisition of Redmond from UFL’s Arlington Renegades

Vikings add DL Jalen Redmond to roster, release WR Devron Harper

The Vikings made a move on Tuesday by signing free agent defensive lineman Jalen Redmond, as announced by the team. In a corresponding roster change, receiver Devron Harper was waived by Minnesota. Redmond comes to the Vikings after playing for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades this spring, where he had an impressive performance with 18 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in four games.

Harper joined the Vikings this spring as an undrafted rookie free agent from Mercer University. Though his time with the team was brief, Harper made his mark as he pursued his NFL aspirations.

Redmond’s journey to the NFL began in 2023 when he signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma. Though he spent the offseason program with the Panthers, he was ultimately waived last August. During his time at Oklahoma, Redmond showed potential with 71 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries while starting in 19 of the 36 games he played from 2018-22.
