Bicyclist in Vinkovci suffers serious injuries after colliding with a car

On Thursday, a 69-year-old cyclist in Vinkovci suffered serious physical injuries after colliding with a car. The incident occurred when the cyclist, who was supposed to be moving on the roadway, joined the roadway traffic at an intersection without yielding to the vehicles already on the road. As a result, the cyclist hit a passenger car with the front of her bicycle and fell to the pavement.

According to the Vukovar-Srijemska Police Department, there were three traffic accidents involving injured persons on Thursday, in which cyclists were involved. With the improvement of weather conditions, more people are using personal transport options like bicycles on the roads. However, due to their lack of protection compared to vehicles, cyclists are considered a vulnerable group of road users.

In order to ensure their personal safety and that of others, cyclists must comply with legal regulations governing their behavior in traffic. The Law on Road Traffic Safety mandates that bicycles must have lights on both the front and rear when traveling at night or in conditions of reduced visibility. Cyclists must also wear reflective vests or clothing when riding on the road and use designated paths or lanes when available.

Furthermore, cyclists must yield to vehicles when joining roadway traffic and avoid riding in groups side by side. They should also use hand signals to indicate turns and avoid consuming alcohol before riding a bike as it can lead to accidents and falls. By following these guidelines and being aware of their surroundings, cyclists can help ensure safe travels on the road.

The number of accidents involving injured persons has increased as more people take advantage of better weather conditions for outdoor activities such as cycling. To stay safe while riding a bike, it’s important for riders to be vigilant about following traffic rules and regulations while taking advantage of any designated paths or lanes available.

With increasing numbers of people choosing biking as an alternative mode of transportation, it is crucial that all riders understand how important it is to adhere to laws governing their behavior in traffic. By doing so, they will not only protect themselves but also contribute towards safer roads for everyone.

In conclusion, with better weather conditions comes an increase in outdoor activities such as biking which can lead to more accidents involving injured persons if proper precautions are not taken by riders. It is essential that all riders follow traffic rules and regulations while taking advantage of any designated paths or lanes available for their safety and that of others on the roads.
